The purpose of this newsletter is to tell the story of experience on country and the learning that seeks to heal national differences from the ground up, as we create pathways to a true national resettlement.

Join us on this journey of exploration from Australian Dream to Dreaming Australia: the independent media network where the ancient meets the contemporary: at the intersection of the immigrant and the indigenous; a meeting of minds between black and white.

Welcome to country -

Dreaming Australia was instigated by Peltherre Chris Tomlins an Arrernte-Walpieri elder and with him we created Dreaming Australia to answer the call of central desert elders for a new model of creating sustainable living on country.

We successfully mounted a number of art projects around Australia including the rainbow serpent built at Snake Well near Alice Springs and the wedgetail eagle dreaming pictured below.

We later incorporated Apmere Mwarre an indigenous social enterprise company for enagaging ‘Kids on Country, not in custody’ to maintain and improve housing assets in their own communities. The training is done through an artist exchange program. You can find extensive video and the who’s who of Dreaming Australia at www.dreamingaustralia.org

Moving forward -

As a team we continue to create safe spaces for cross cultural interaction at art and cultural events, yarning circles and activist camps around the country. In most cases we fund these activites on a ‘shoestring’ with lots of good will.

At other times we have assisted tribal groups realising rights to land in the legal context. We ask the difficult questions: how big a role does mining play in Aboriginal policy? and what is really behind the movement for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal people? We look forward to sharing this learning more widely.

About Dr Freddi -

With a background in construction industry and higher studies in political philosophy and art, Freddi has for ten years been engaged with Central Australia and the self-determination drive at the forefront of expecations of a better life.

In recent years, non-indigenous freedom movements have arisen and it is clear that for many Australians, our national and personal destiny is tied to the indigenous peoples of this land.

Stay up-to-date

Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.

Initially, newsletters will explore the meaning of Australia, Australian and Aboriginal Australian as we establish the poltical and historical background of the struggle and why that matters.

In time, we will move into cultural topics with video interviews from the grass roots community of elders, activists and artists: the ambassadors of a new Australia Dreaming.
